Liam Kerr

Liam Kerr grew up among the horse barns, arid mountains, and eight-lane roads of Canyon Country, California. During the day, he would be outside exploring with friends, and at night he would return home to play video games with his mother and brother. Whether delving deep into the dungeons of World of Warcraft together or constructing the world’s most extraordinary theme park in Roller Coaster Tycoon, these digital frontiers brought them all closer together. The imagination and the fun of it all set the table for his future.

Life continued forward, and Liam eventually graduated from Campbell Hall, his high school, and set his eyes on college. He moved to Boston where he attended Harvard University for four years and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Sociology. During his time there, video games were a fundamental way he kept in touch with friends and family on the other coast. This included his yearly pilgrimages to BlizzCon, a gaming convention where he would nerd out about all things Blizzard Entertainment. Listening to panels about game development, watching the artistic cinematics, and hearing the swelling chorus music – it was overwhelming in the best way possible, and Liam knew that it would be his dream to work there one day.

After college, Liam Kerr landed his first job in the video game industry and started working in esports for the Call of Duty League. Traveling all around the world to host sprawling events was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Now, closer than ever to his dream, Liam returned to school once again to get his Master’s in Game Development from the Academy of Art University. He spent long hours each day scripting new worlds and concepting ideas for existing games he loved. One of his biggest joys was Hearthstone, a card game by Blizzard Entertainment, which he put hundreds of hours into developing for. Liam created four entire fan expansions for the game, consisting of over 600 custom cards, along with numerous side projects. The hard work paid off, and he landed an internship at Blizzard Entertainment as a game designer on Hearthstone.

More time has passed, and Liam Kerr is now living in Irvine, California with his beautiful wife, Melodie Kerr, and his adorable corgi, Winston Kerr. They each play and talk about video games nonstop, watch movies, spend time with friends, and walk to the Spectrum Center mall every weekend for food and shopping. Liam is now a full-time game designer at Blizzard Entertainment where he is currently developing combat and classes for the Diablo franchise. Who knows what’s next in his life! Stay tuned.
